Integrate Your Individuality with Your Universality

Maharishi defined the word yoga as "integration of life", but what does integration mean?

Integration means bringing together the individual and the universal; the local with the unbounded; the wave with the ocean.

In fact, the wave is the ocean — just as each of us is an expression of something vast and unbounded; however, if we only experience the ever-moving waves of thought, we miss the depth and magnificence of who we truly are.

Transcendental Meditation is an essential part of the practice of Yoga. It takes our awareness from the surface of our thinking process to the silent, boundless source of thought — the ocean of pure, unbounded consciousness.

Living a Fulfilled Life: Is Yoga the Missing Link?

Yoga is experienced as subjective— what Maharishi called “knowing by being.” But at the same time as it is subjective, it is also profoundly scientific, in that it is systematic, repeatable, and has measurable effects

Through Transcendental Meditation, Yoga restores something that our science-based modern life otherwise lacks —systematically repeatable inner knowledge, the foundation of fulfillment. In a fast-paced world where stress weakens us day in and day out.

As Maharishi said, life can't be lived and enjoyed fully on the level of thought alone. Like a coin, life has two sides - inner and outer. Both must be lived to the fullest extent possible. The bank must support the market — inner silence must support outer success.

Maharishi: A Yoga Master for the Scientific Age

Maharishi, a true master of Yoga, brought its deepest wisdom into the modern world with clarity and simplicity. He knew that for people to embrace Transcendental Meditation, it had to be shared in the language of science — not mysticism.

He presented Yoga as a direct, experiential reality, not just a philosophy. His teachings, including the eight limbs of yoga, called Ashtanga Yoga, were free of the confusion of  esoteric language — and made accessible to everyone, from children to elders.

Learn How Transcendental Meditation Fulfills Yoga

Through the practice of TM, Maharishi shows how the elements of Yoga are naturally fulfilled — effortlessly and completely. The Yoga Sutra course is both inspiring in terms of practice as well as deeply satisfying to the intellect. We feel truly fortunate to receive this timeless wisdom from a master who lived it fully.

About the author: Dr Joseph Boxerman first found out about TM in a college sculpture class at University of California, in Berkeley, when he became very good friends with three other art students in the class who had just learned TM.  He learned TM, became a TM Teacher and that has been his life direction ever since.  He has taught Transcendental Meditation in many locations throughout the United States and the world and was a member of the Maharishi Purusha Program for 18 years. He received his Masters' Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Maharishi International University (MIU), USA, and was honored with a Doctorate in Maharishi Vedic Administration and a Doctorate in World Peace by MERU (Maharishi European Research University).
